The Heart Never Lies

This is not just me sharing what I wore for Uni today; it is also me sharing my excitement over MY NEW JEANS! Yesterday was my birthday and I had a quick trip to Meadowhall with my housemates. I've been after some new jeans for a while so I nipped into Dorothy Perkins and bought these beauties. You may recognise them from my Autumn wishlist post, although these are 'green' as opposed to the 'teal' ones I shared there - that's because, in real life, teal was far darker than I wanted, whereas green is PERFECT. I love them. Do excuse my expression, I don't know quite what happened to my face...

In other news, I'm currently eating PIE and goodness me, it's hot today!
Hope you're all well lovelies :)

(Title: Entirely irrelevant McFly song I am obsessed with today :D)

Cheerful Tuesday #9

081. Playing with pretty new orange eyeshadow. (Models Own Orangeade)

082. Wearing awesome t-shirts I won off lovely people :)

083. Highlighters. Also having something to do with my brain again. And the prospect of starting my dissertation.

084. Makings lists. It's what I do when I'm feeling anxious and fidgety. Recently discovered Listography and I'm in my element.

085. Face masks/providing hilarity for male housemates who just don't understand these things...

086. Pretty headbands.

087. Being a student and using vouchers for EVERYTHING.

088. Hilariously-titled articles in scholarly journals. Wtf?!

089. Harry Judd. I know I've had McFly before but... Look at him! Especially as a vampire. Yum!

090. Halloween. This is me as a vampire last year. Apologies for the poor quality..

Sunday Songs #9: Paramore

Paramore are one of my favourite bands, I have an absolute obsession with Hayley Williams, and this is my favourite song by them, taken off their second album, 'Riot!'. Hope you guys like it!

Just a very brief post today to share with you all the only productive things that have happened today; I've painted my nails and used some vouchers I got from the Freshers Fair to claim FREE PIZZA. Apparently there is something about free pizza I just can't say no to.

Lately & An Origins Parcel

As the title suggests, this is just a brief update on my day (nothing very exciting, sorry!) and a quick review/description/not sure what to call it...
I think I've mentioned this week is Freshers which has of course meant much drinking and hilarity, but also means the Freebie Fair at the student union. This was widely expected in my house to be a bit pointless and not really worth getting out of bed for. However, I discovered by chance there would also be free pizza. Consider us there, we said.
This is as much explanation as I can offer for the huge number of free pens my room is now overrun with. Halfway-decent freebies included a bottle of Lucozade, toffee popcorn and USB memory sticks from Vodafone, Skittles (four of them, no joke) from a local boutique, suncream from T-Mobile, and the aforementioned pizza. Also included; eight thousand flyers for various student nights none of us will attend, balloons, beer mats, maps of the tram network (!?) and a 'Student Survival Guide' containing such gems of wisdom as, "If you don't already drink and smoke, now is the time to start." Erm, no thanks, I think I'll give lung cancer a miss.
There they are look. One-two-three-four.
Also today I have eaten brownies for breakfast (I made the brownies from the Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook last night, yum!) and attended an induction session at Uni in which they attempted to convince us that really all our final year will need is for us to turn up to our lectures and not leave our dissertations until March. I feel like there's something they're not telling us...

Also, before I forget, here is another of the t-shirts the lovely Total Jerk boys sent me. I had to behead myself due to the horrific face I was pulling, something akin to a mass murderer, so apologies if you particularly wanted to see my face today - it's for the best, I assure you. Worn with my new Primark tights, last season's Primark glittery socks because it was COLD, Matalan denim skirt and a cardi I've had so long I don't even remember where I bought it anymore.

I also got a package in the post today - my order from Origins, shipped very promptly and nicely packaged.

The full-size product I ordered, the Never A Dull Moment Cleanser, came with four samples of other products, three of which I chose myself and one of which is a new product. The one I'm most excited about is the VitaZing SPF15 moisturiser, which I picked because I figured you can't go wrong with a good SPF. What I didn't realise is that it's a dead clever tinted moisturiser which comes out of the tube white but adjusts to your skin tone! How exciting. Obviously I've not had chance to try it out properly yet but the reviews on the site are all very favourable and I'm looking forward to trying it. It's not cheap at £26 for 50ml but it looks like a little will go a long way and it would act as moisturiser whilst reducing the amount of foundation needed, so it may be a worthwhile investment. We'll see!
The other samples I chose were A Perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea, which retails at £17 for 150ml and smells AMAZING, and Brighter By Nature Skin Tone Correcting Serum, £34 for 30ml, which I'm also quite excited about trying out. Also included was a small sachet of Plantscription Anti-Aging Eye Treatment, which I can't find a full-size for on the website. I'm not really old enough for anti-aging treatments yet at the grand old age of 19, but I do love eye treatments so I'll be giving this one a go too!
And that's it for today really guys! Have any of you ever bought from Origins? What are your essential items?

Autumn Days

The only real preparation for Autumn clothes I've yet made was stocking up on Primark tights earlier in the week - cheap and cheerful! I wish I could afford to buy a few more things but as a student unable to find a job (seriously, it's sickening how many CVs I've given out over the last four months and NOTHING) I'm reduced to making wishlists.
I mentioned this in my last Wish List post but I am seriously lusting after a pair of teal jeans; teal is my all-time favourite colour, I have one pair of jeans that don't have holes in at the moment, and it's such a lovely Autumnal colour. I may have to have this pair from Dorothy Perkins, £30. I'm also in love with red-wine colours at the moment and, although the TopShop website describes these beauties, £40, as 'pink', I'm not convinced.
I've never been a skirt person, I just really struggle to style them, but I've been getting better at this lately and I'm currently in love with this TopShop studded bodycon skirt, £28, which would be ideal both for daytime and for nights out. That would make it an investment, right?! This New Look double breasted skirt, £22.99, is another perfect Autumn colour and would look great with boots to keep my feet warm.

Dresses with cardigans are one of my staples for the colder months - I love layering because it's always so hot in lectures that being able to take some clothes off is a necessity if I don't want to pass out from heat exhaustion, but it's also essential to put some clothes back on to prevent hypothermia afterwards! This knitted dress, £35 from Dorothy Perkins, is a great Autumn/Winter piece which would look fab paired with a plain black cardi and black woolly tights.

Perfect for layering up over dresses, this handmade cashmere cardigan from seller FoundObjectFashion on Etsy is a bargain at $72 (around £45) and is absolutely beautiful!

I always struggle to find boots I like and that fit me (bear in mind here I have size eight feet, don't laugh, and they are ridiculously narrow as well) so when I found a pair I loved last winter, I made my mam buy me them for Christmas and I don't see myself falling out of love anytime soon. If I were to invest in some boot-y friends for them, thought, it'd probably be these Darla Wedge boots from Missguided, £36.99.

In terms of accessories, I'm a fan of the weird and vaguely unusual, so I'm always on the lookout for individual handmade pieces. This Sea Creature necklace, £6 from Velvet Feather, is gorgeous, although unfortunately sold out at the moment. I also love this Babushka necklace, £10 from Wallpaper Rose.

I'm also a massive lover of brooches and really like this Clara brooch, on sale for just £8 from Wallpaper Rose.

I often forget that I own some lovely rings but I'm trying to make an effort to wear them a bit more lately, and I have been buying a couple of new ones as well. I've got my eye on this beautiful turquoise number over at Mozzypop, a bargain at just £4.95. Temporary:Secretary also have lots of lovely rings (and other pieces) at extremely reasonable prices and frankly, I want them all! This Foxy ring, £12, is one of my favourites.

On a somewhat irrelevant note, if I had a baby, I would definitely be snapping up this gorgeous Monster hat, $20 from seller BabyKnits on Etsy, to keep his/her little head warm through the colder months. It's amazing!

What do you guys think? What's on your Autumn wishlists?

Back To School

Just a quick post today to share a few bits and pieces I picked up yesterday in preparation for going back to Uni on Friday. Honestly, I'm so excited for my final year modules and for having something to do with my brain after four months off!
I started off in Primark where I picked up this necklace in the sale for £2, and an owl ring for £1.50. Unfortunately by the time I got the necklace home it had broken but I think I'll be able to fix it if I bring my jewellery pliers from home some time :)

I also grabbed a couple of tops, one plain aqua coloured t-shirt for £2 in the sale and a lovely wine-coloured vest top which I meant to try on and then forgot about until I got to the checkout. I'm actually really impressed with the quality of it, considering it was only £8. I also grabbed a few pairs of tights in preparation for the colder months.

A few Uni essentials in WHSmiths...

And some EXTREMELY exciting essentials from Bodycare... I've nearly run out of cleanser, toner, hand cream and toothpaste, and my exfoliator has almost run out too but I can't afford the same one (it was a gift) so I grabbed this Tea Tree one for 99p. I'll let you know how that goes....

And that's it really guys! Have you been buying anything exciting lately?

Cheerful Tuesday #8

071. Freshers. The only explanation I can offer for this photo...

072. My new t-shirts from Total Jerk - wearing this today!

073. Cathedrals. I spent ten minutes this afternoon sitting in the cathedral in Sheffield and just thinking. I felt so much calmer afterwards!

074. Shopping sprees facilitated by student loans - even if it was mostly essentials which I'll be sharing tomorrow...

075. Malibu. My drink of choice, love it!

076. Chess. I've only learnt to play recently and I will admit I'm terrible but it's always cool learning new things!

077. Jelly Babies. Currently half price at Tesco, I've eaten an obscene number this afternoon...

078. Lancashire. I'm a Lancashire lass living in Yorkshire at the moment. I "borrowed" a load of Red Rose beer mats from my local at home to decorate our house with. Unimpressed housemates is an understatement...

079. New stationery. Start of new year at uni = excuse to buy new notebooks. Happy Jesss!

080. Finding a product that really works for you - in my case, Origins Never A Dull Moment Cleanser. I had a sample of this which my ex's mum gave me and my skin has never been so good, so this morning I treated myself and ordered a full-size product off their website. They're currently running a promotion whereby you order one full-size item and can choose samples of three others. Would anyone be interested in a post on this?
