Reasons to Love Yellow

If you know me, you know my love of lists. You name it, I've probably made a list of it; to-do, revision topics, wish lists, Christmas lists, shopping lists, things-I-want-to-buy-when-I-have-a-Real-Job lists...
I've decided to start a new little series on a Sunday, where I'll share one of my lists from the week. I'm going to start off with reasons I love yellow - it was my favourite colour when I was younger and it still cheers me up to this day. It's a shame it makes me look ill/dead because of the way it clashes with my skin tone, or I'd wear yellow all the time!
01. Lemons
02. Marzipan
03. Sunshine
04. Ducklings
05. Daisies
06. Eggs
07. Flat Eric
08. HB pencils that remind you of Primary School
09. Mr Happy
10. Rubber ducks
11. Leopard print
12. Bleached hair before you die it a ridiculous colour
13. Pina coladas
14. Fire
15. High school house colours
16. Cake
17. Yummy Cupcake Co.

Bit of a random list but it does make me smile.
Are any of you ladies obsessive list-makers? I actually have a little notebook just for making lists in... I think I need help!

Breaking The Spending Ban

I may have been a little bit naughty since the implementation of my spending ban..
I blame my housemate for taking me to Meadowhall to stop him spending too much money, which resulted in my buying a dress, two skirts, a necklace and a cuff bracelet. Whoops.
I bought this dress in green, which I just could not get to photograph properly with the terrible light at the moment. I love the way it fits me though, and since I have somehow lost a stone, but all off my waist, thus making my problem of everything that fits my thighs being massive on my waist even worse, I've decided I need to start wearing more dresses. With an RRP of £25, this is a lovely dress, even more so when I got it for just £18.75 with the 25% Student Discount DPs were running! I also bought this necklace and a silver cuff (which I can't find online) but again can't get decent photos - I'll try to include them in some outfit posts soon! My housemate also bought me this ring because he's lovely and he 'wanted me to have it'. £1 in the sale, never let it be said that he's not generous! I also bought two jersey skirts from H&M, at £3.99 each they'll be great basics.

And then there was the Primark incident... I had an hour and a half to kill in town and thought I'd wander round Primark - Dangerous move! I ended up purchasing two pairs of shoes and a pretty top. In my defence, I was in need of new shoes, and something to wear with my new skirts... That's no defence at all, is it?!

Again, not great pictures due to the CRAPPY lighting at the moment - I promise to take some outfit shots soon to show you properly! The top was £4 (artwork by Lyzi in the background!), the ballet pumps £6 and the brogues £8. I tried the brogues on on a whim because I've wanted some for ages but been scared they'd make my feet look massive. In fact the opposite was true, they make my feet look little and dinky - no mean feat with my size eights!

And that's all my forbidden purchases. I'm going to be good from now on!

Mr Fox and Ms Ladybird

I've been eyeing up the Dainty Roses online shop for sometime and the other day I was finally tempted into making a purchase, thanks to a great offer where Lisa was combining the Mr Fox ring and the Ms Ladybird ring for the bargain price of £7 - a saving of £4!
Mr Fox is available in gold or silver, at £6, and Ms Ladybird comes with a range of coloured gems, for £5.
My order arrived very quickly, securely packaged in a little box and wrapped up beautifully with a cute little pin badge and a pretty ribbon!

And both my rings are gorgeous!

So if you're on the lookout for some lovely new jewellery, I recommend checking out Dainty Roses!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I wanted to hold a little giveaway to celebrate Just Jesss reaching 50 followers. Being completely honest, that is 50 (actually, 64, now) more than I ever expected, so thank you to every single one of you. In an extremely cliched way, I wish I could give you all a little gift but I'm a student so this will have to suffice! So - what can you win?

The prize, all bought with my own money, includes:
Barry M Limited Edition Effects 'Silver Glitter' nail polish
Rimmel London Glam'Eyes Mono Eye Shadow in 'Plum Romance'
Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Polish
Wallpaper Rose Mirror
Dorothy Perkins Ring
Cute owl keyring
And (if it ever shows up, I ordered it in November...) an MUA Nail Polish in Shade 22 (not pictured for obvious reasons).

To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment below. This is a giveaway for my followers, so you must be following my blog (new followers welcome - please see the links on the left to follow via GFC or Bloglovin' - I will be checking.) Please leave me your email address so I can contact the winner!
There will be no extra entries because I'm easily confused, but if you'd like to share on your blog/tweet about it/whatever, feel free! The giveaway will run until midnight (GMT) on the 8th February, two weeks from now, after which I will randomly select a winner. I will notify the winner by email, if you don't get back to me within 48 hours I'll choose someone else. This giveaway is open internationally so anyone can enter. If you're under 18, please make sure you have your parent/guardian's permission as I'll need your address if you win!
I think that's everything covered...
Good luck and thank you again for following, it means so much that people read my ramblings!

A Red Fridge Story

'What you up to?', my boyfriend texted me the other evening.
'If I tell you, you have to promise not to think I'm weird. Even though Googling pictures of red fridges might be a little bit weird. (Please still love me!)', I replied.
This is a true story. I actually was looking at photos of red fridges.. I will know I've made it when I have a kitchen containing a red fridge. I spent a happy evening pinning pics of them, and other amazing future-house-things, on Pinterest. Since it's too dark to take any decent photos, I thought I'd share a few of my most recent Pins with you. If you'd like to follow me on Pinterest go right ahead!

Review: Origins Clear Improvement Mask

A couple of weeks ago, I placed an order on the Origins website and, as always, was asked to select some samples.

One of the products I selected was the 'Clear Improvement Mask'. This is what their website has to say:
Nature's complexion clean-up crew gets to the bottom of skin's overcast condition and clears the way for it to act its best. Activated Charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out pore-cloggers, White China Clay absorbs environmental pollutants, Lecithin dissolves impurities. Without all that "stuff" down there, skin "breathes a sigh of relief."
Last night I decided to try it out. The sample I received was a little 7ml tube, which was enough for one application, though thicker than I'd normally apply - I would have saved some but I knew there wouldn't be enough for two applications so there didn't seem much point. Let's say one and a half applications? If you're prone to nightmares, I recommend looking away now...

The mask felt cool and tingly on my face which I liked, and dried out as it worked, which I also like - masks that stay 'wet' don't feel like they're doing anything to me! I left it for about ten minutes, by which time it had gone crispy and tight so I couldn't open my mouth, though weirdly it still felt very smooth on my face - it didn't crack like most masks do. I removed it with a flannel and warm water (and it took some getting off, let me tell you!), before doing my usual cleanse/tone/moisturise routine. It left my skin feeling soft, smooth and tight - but in a 'firm' way rather than a 'dehydrated' way. And do you know what else? I think it lived up to its claim to clear pores; the nasty blackheads on my nose are definitely looking better, which I really didn't expect!
The full-size product retails at £17 for 100ml. Based on my maths, I think you'd get 15 - 20 applications out of this, which works out at somewhere around £1 per application -  actually pretty good value when compared to something like the Montagne Jeunesse sachets, which are also around £1 each. Although my spending ban means I won't be purchasing a full-size of this just yet, it's definitely on my wish list for the future!
What do you ladies think of Origins products?

(Disclaimer: This product was a sample which came with a purchase made with my own money. This hasn't affected my opinion, this is an honest review. Just sharing my thoughts!)

Sarenza Ambassador Competition (aka SERIOUS SHOE LUST)

Have I mentioned recently my love of shoes? When I read about the Sarenza Ambassador competition, I had to enter. The hardest part was choosing my favourite pair of shoes from a choice of (what seemed like) TEN MILLION AMAZING SHOES.
Eventually, my love of Iron Fist and the practical side of me which likes to plan outfits decided these beauties are what's missing from my life.
New Rider Platform Booties, £59.50
Aren't they gorgeous! I love the buckles, the studded detailing, the lining, the shiny embellished skulls... They are practically my perfect pair of shoes. I'd wear them with my aubergine skinny jeans for a casual day look, or with my shiny new TopShop dress for a night out - they're the perfect statement piece.
I think I might be in love!
Have any of you lovely ladies entered the Ambassador competition? Link me up if you have, I've really been enjoying reading people's entries!

Sales Shopping III: TopShop

I never normally shop at TopShop. I tend to find it over-priced for what it is, and often I can't even find anything I like. So I was surprised to come across a couple of things in the sale that I really quite wanted.

(Sun pendant £8 reduced from £20; Cardi £10 reduced from £38)
The necklace is lovely and chunky, a bit of a statement piece but I'm all about statements! The cardi is gorgeous and soft and was a bit of a bargain. I seem to have had a bit of a knitwear thing going on, most of my sales purchases have consisted of woolly wonders... It is something my wardrobe has been lacking though so it's all good, I may even consider throwing out my oldest, holiest cardi.. Maybe.
I also got my student discount on these, so I actually only paid £7.20 for the necklace, and £9 for the cardi. Can't knock that!

Also, whilst Christmas shopping, I somehow ended up treating myself to this dress.. It was only £13.50 with student discount and I wore it on New Year's Eve with my diamante star ring.

Sales Shopping II: Accessorize

I love Accessorize. I especially love their 70% off sales.

(Diamante star ring £3.50; Braid ring £3; Birdcage necklace £3.50 - I think. I know they came to £10.50 altogether anyway so this is about right...)

And while we're at it, I thought I may as well share some of my Christmas goodies as well. The bracelets and stacking rings were from H&M, amazing woolly socks came in a pack of three pairs but I'm not sure where from.
Did anyone else pick up some Accessorize bargains?

Sales Shopping I: Matalan

I love you, Matalan. Not just for your super-low prices, but also because you send me hangers with my clothes!
Seriously, I never seem to have enough clothes hangers, and it drives me mad.
So, here is what I treated myself to from the Matalan sale. I say from the sale, the only things that were actually reduced were the cardis, but at these prices I couldn't resist!

Blue cardi £5 (reduced from £10); Blue skirt £8; Red textured skirt £8; Aubergine cardi £5 (reduced from £10); Blue and gold lace top £12; Cross bracelet £4; Polka-dot tights £3

I love the cardis, at that price I was always going to but they're lovely and soft as well. The skirts are both nicer on than they are on the hangers, the blue one has a zip at the back which I was a little worried about as it feels quite cheap. I've run a pencil lead along it though (the graphite acts as a lubricant) and it feels fine now. I couldn't resist the lacy blue and gold top, it's gorgeous. I'll have to save it for a day I'm feeling brave though as it's a teeny bit see-through.. The bracelet hasn't left my wrist yet and I've been wanting some polka-dot tights for ages so couldn't say no to these for only three quid.
This little lot came to just £45 which I was really pleased with, and because it was over forty quid I even got free postage!
Have any of you lovely ladies had any sales bargains from Matalan?

NOTD: ELF Red Velvet

Just a very quick post today to share with you the ELF Red Velvet Nail Polish which I received as one of my Secret Santa gifts. Opaque in one coat (this is two coats though because I can't be neat to save my life) and drying quickly, this is set to become a favourite for me I think!
Please excuse the bits of my fingers which are stained blue - there is no excuse really, but it won't come off :(

These are taken in natural light and they're pretty true to the colour, if anything in real life it's slightly less glossy and more metallic. What do you think, ladies?

My First-Ever MAC Purchase

Yes, you read that correctly - I'm a MAC virgin! Whilst I've heard nothing but good things about MAC products, and everything always looks very tempting, it's just too pricey for me, on my student's budget. So when I saw that BuyaPowa had the eyeshadow 'Tilt' available for just £6.50, I decided that now was a good a time as any to indulge. Sorry, overdraft.

As you can see from the sliiiight photo overkill there, it's a lovely shimmery silvery-blue shade which I've not even dared to swatch yet. I'll let you know whether I'm brave enough to wear it tonight for my first night out of 2012!
Did anyone else take advantage of this BuyaPowa bargain!? Please tell me it's not just me they're bankrupting...
