#NailArtWeeklyProject 1: A Piece of Clothing

The lovely Danni from Gingerbread Smiles has organised a fab nail art collaboration project with a whole bunch of bloggers, whereby there is a theme each week and each blogger shares their nail art related to that theme! I thought this sounded like fun and so here I am with week one, inspired by a piece of clothing. I've gone for this blue and grey striped top, something nice and simple to start off with - or so I thought!

I'm pretty happy with the colours I've used, but the execution could definitely have been better; I started with my little finger and I think that's actually the best nail, so maybe I needed to clean my brush between nails to avoid the stripes getting thicker each time? I definitely need to practice my stripe-making, that's for sure! As always, I started with OPI Nail Envy as my base, then used one coat of Barry M's 'Cobalt Blue' as the base colour, before mixing Sally Hansen 'Gray by Gray' with a little bit of Models Own 'Snow White' for the stripes, which I painted on with a fine brush.

So what do you think to my attempt? Do you have any tips for painting stripes on your nails!? If you're taking part in the #NailArtWeeklyProject, please let me know so I can have a nosey at what you came up with for this week's challenge!

  4. Love this idea, ive seen people use tape to make stripes, so they paint their nails with the colour the stripes will be first, apply the tape, then add a top colour x

  5. I really like the colours you have used here. I use tape for doing stripes - you can have a wee look here if you'd like to see the finish this gives http://perfectlypolishedpaws.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/monday-manicure-barry-m-textured-polish.html. You are much better at free hand than me though, hence why I use the tape!
