July's issue of Marie Claire (on sale in June, though there will probably be a couple still in the shops for the next couple of days until August's issue comes out!) came with a free gift in the form of a choice of four Ciaté Mini Caviar Mani sets; I went for the coral-y polish which turned out to be called 'Play Date'. I applied two coats, with a base and top coat of OPI's Nail Envy. I've not used the Caviar pearls just because I've got a busy day today and it didn't seem worth the extra effort considering I'll have to take the whole lot off for work tomorrow! I found that the polish applied quite nicely and evenly, becoming almost but not quite opaque in the two coats, but the brush did seem to have a few dodgy bristles on it which made a neat application that little bit harder. That aside, the brush was a nice wide one which ordinarily would make application a doddle, so I'm not sure if the weird bristles were a consequence of this being a freebie, a mini size, or just a one-off bad brush!

'Play Date' is a true, bright coral-toned red which I think would suit most skin tones and will look amazing with a tan! Did you pick up any of the Ciaté polish duos with Marie Claire? What shade did you go for? Do you like the look of 'Play Date'?

I was so tempted to pick this one up when I saw the magazine in the supermarket yesterday but I've got SO much polish and couldn't possibly justify another, especially when I think of lack of patience with fiddly things like the caviar beads!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic color! I'm always on the lookout for a great red nail polish!
ReplyDeleteOoh I think I picked up the shade duo! So glad I did though because it looks amazing!

This is such a beautiful colour, very summery!! Such a shame about the brush though, I always struggle not to make a total mess when there are some stray bristles!

This is a really nice shade of red! To be honest the whole caviare nail thing is completely lost on me, however I may have picked this up just for this red shade.

I got the blue shade, I think it's called "ferris wheel". I'm yet to use it but in my previous experience Ciate polishes are really lovely quality :)
