I think I'm coming towards the end of this little Most Used series, I can only think of a couple more product types to cover! Today I have the post which probably includes the hardest decisions to make; my most-used palettes. I wear eyeshadow every day I wear make-up so I like to have a lot of options to keep things fresh; I do own quite a few single eyeshadows but it's definitely my palettes which see the most love.
ELF NYC | The most recently-acquired of these palettes, I've been using this fairly frequently for a striking eye make-up look with minimal effort, as applying these shadows with a reasonably damp brush gives a lovely foil-like effect on the lids. Again, these are lacking shade names but the second and fourth shades in the top row have seen the most use.
MUA Undressed | This palette has definitely seen better days, which is really the only weakness of MUA palettes; the packaging is a bit pants. Aside from that, this is meant to be a cracking dupe for the Urban Decay Naked palette (which I don't own, hence I'm saying "meant to be") and features a dozen lovely neutral shades with both shimmery and matte finishes. The pigmentation isn't quite 100% with the matte shades but they're notoriously harder to get right and for the budget price point of this palette, I really don't mind. The shades don't have names but my most-worn are shade 2, shade 4 and shade 9.
Sleek Showstoppers | This is my first and only Sleek palette, a limited edition number which is packed full of incredibly pigmented shades which apply beautifully and last so well on the eyes. It's definitely made me want to try more Sleek palettes, although my local Superdrug no longer stocks the brand so it's become a little tricky for me to pick up more of them! I think this is the palette with the most 'out-there' shades from these five most-used, but they are mostly still very wearable on a day-to-day basis. My favourite shades are 'Bad Girl', the oddly-named 'Noir', and 'Graphite'.
Stila In The Light | Another palette I won, this contains ten shades in various neutral tones which again, are all super-wearable and an absolute dream to work with. They're beautifully pigmented and blend so easily on the lids. I have found that the more shimmery shades can produce a bit of fallout if you don't use an extremely light hand when picking them up with your brush. In The Light also includes a Smudge Stick in 'Damsel', a deep brown, which complements the shadows well and lasts nicely on the skin, even in the waterline. Favourites are 'Kitten' and 'Champagne'.
Urban Decay Naked2 | This is such a predictable palette to include but I really do love it and it's definitely one of my most-used; it contains a beautiful selection of neutral shades which are suitable for day-to-day wear and can easily be built up for a more dramatic look. All twelve shadows are really nicely pigmented, apply smoothly and blend well, making them a dream to work with. I actually won this palette but I'd be more than willing to buy it now, having seen how much wear I get from it! My favourite shades within this palette are probably 'Half Baked', 'Chopper', 'YDK' and 'Verve'.
You may have noticed that the majority of these palettes consist of mostly neutral shades; neutrals are definitely my most-worn eyeshadow choices, but I wouldn't say my favourite necessarily. I am a huge fan of really bright, out-there eyeshadow (I love green eye make-up!) but it's just not suitable for work, so can't honestly constitute my most-worn palettes. I do love all of these palettes but I feel like this is a different post altogether than it would be if I'd done my five favourite palettes, as opposed to most-used. I hope that makes sense! What are your most-used palettes? Do you own any of these beauties?

ReplyDeleteconsidering im a beauty blogger, i need to get my hands on the naked palette! it looks brilliant x
ReplyDeleteWhat's the fallout like on the elf palettes? They're so stinking cheap, and I love the shades, but I have to be so careful because a spec of powder in my eye has me bloodshot and watery.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to try the Stila palette but I like to know what the fallout is like beforehand.
