Review: Boots Botanics Facial Oil

A recent convert to facial oils after trying one by Trilogy, I picked up a more budget-friendly option from the Botanics line at Boots on a bit of a whim; Boots Botanics 100% Organic Facial Oil claims to lock in moisture for 8 hours with nourishing rosehip. Fitting in with the rest of the Botanics line, the outer packaging is white, with lovely illustrations and clear printed product information and ingredients. But does the product match up to the pretty box!?
Boots Botanics Facial Oil Review
"This aromatic oil melts into lacklustre skin to lock in moisture for 8 hours while softening, conditioning and helping to restore its natural glow. Use regularly to boost the performance of your daily skincare regime. Rosehip is nature's nourishing gem. The seeds are a rich source of essential Omega oils, which help to improve suppleness and keep all skin types beautifully soft and healthy looking. Directions: Use morning and night after cleansing. Gently massage a few drops of the oil onto the face and neck with your fingertips until the oil is absorbed."
Botanics Facial Oil Ingredients
[Ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet almond) oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Rosa Canina Seed Oil, Limonene, Citronellol, Pelargonium Graveolens Leaf Oil, Geraniol, Citrus Aurantium Sinensis Peel Extract, Linalool, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Citral, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil.]
Now, I'd hate you to think I'd be biased by such a trivial thing, but I am a sucker for a science-y pipette, which may explain my love for facial oils - they all seem to come equipped with a pipette! Happy days. I may be easily pleased but on a more practical note, this makes application super easy since you can easily dispense product drop-by-drop as you need it, as well as being nice and hygienic. Everyone's a winner.
Botanics Facial Oil Review
A couple of drops is all you need to easily cover the whole face and neck area, meaning this bottle will last ages. I've found the oil absorbs easily into the skin without leaving a greasy or sticky residue; it's not quite so quick to absorb as the Trilogy oil I was using previously, but it's definitely not a problem. I tend to use this of an evening before my moisturiser for an extra nourishing treat, I wouldn't use it during the day as I have oily skin to start with, but if your skin is on the drier side it might work well for you at giving a hydrated base for your make-up. The scent of the oil is quite strong as you apply it, with the geranium being pretty noticeable, but it does fade quickly once on the skin and hasn't caused any irritation for me. My skin looks much more full of life since I've been using facial oil and this has been maintained with the Botanics oil, so I would say it lives up to its claims of imparting a natural glow.
Boots Botanics Organic Facial Oil
Overall, I think this is a lovely budget alternative to more expensive facial oils, which does a lovely job at nourishing and hydrating my skin while I sleep, without being greasy or sticky on my face. Boots Botanics 100% Organic Facial Oil is priced at £9.99 for 25ml of product and is available from Boots instore and online; there are often offers available on the Botanics range so it shouldn't be too hard to pick it up for less than that if you choose your time wisely, I only paid £4.99 for my bottle. What are your thoughts on facial oils, have you tried them? Do you have a favourite?
