Let's Get Nakd!*

...we're talking snacks, you dirty bunch! You may or may not know that I've been trying to take a bit better care of myself this year, meaning eating better and even exercising... Which was all leading up to Total Warrior, a 12.5km obstacle race, which I completed last weekend. Tying in nicely with all of this, I've recently been sent a mixed case of Nakd Cereal Bars* from the kind folks over at Natural Balance Foods. Priding themselves on their 100% natural ingredients, Nakd bars consist of fruit and nuts "smooshed together" - their term, not mine. The mixed case I was sent contains 18 bars in a variety of yummy flavours, including Bakewell Tart, Cocoa Mint, Cashew Cookie, Gingerbread and more. This would be a great way of trying all the flavours to discover your favourites, or alternatively if you can't choose a favourite then you can get a couple of each in a mixed case!

With their fun, quirky packaging, they don't look like the sort of weird caffeine gels my brother takes out on his long bike rides, or anything overly technical like that - they just look like a cereal bar! The texture is quite dense and sticky, the bars are definitely sweet enough to satisfy any cravings (trust me on this one, I have a massive sweet tooth!) whilst still being good for you - amazing! My favourite flavour so far is the Cocoa Mint, but I haven't had chance to try them all yet...

You can find a mixed case of 18 Nakd bars here for £14.99, making them around 85p each; not much more than buying a single chocolate bar, and way better for you, with many of the bars counting as one of your five portions a day of fruit and vegetables! Nakd bars are also gluten, wheat and dairy free for those with dietary intolerances, and have no added sugars, making them an ideal guilt-free snack. I work evening shifts, so it's usually 10pm or after by the time I get home for my tea - these have been great as a little snack on my break to keep me going. They'd also be perfect for people who work normal hours at that point around 3.30pm where you suddenly need to eat or you'll fall asleep on your keyboard, or for after work on the way to the gym, or as part of your breakfast or lunch... Have you tried Nakd bars? What's your favourite healthy snack?
