Review | Born Pretty Qiaoyan Silky Eyeshadow Palette #5*

I was kindly sent this Qiaoyan Silky Eyeshadow Palette* in shade #5 from Born Pretty to try out and share my thoughts; featuring five shimmery shades of pressed eyeshadow including a white, a grey, a bronze, a black and a purple, this looked like a really pretty palette with a lot of options for wearing it.
The packaging is fairly basic but still nice; the gold-coloured plastic palette closes securely and features a clear panel in the lid so you can easily see the shades contained within, which would be handy if you had a few of these palettes - there are six variations available. Within the palette you get a little foam applicator (which I haven't used) and behind that, there's a tiny mirror - it's probably too small to be much use but in a pinch you could use it to check your makeup was still in place, I guess.
In the palette the eyeshadows look very glittery but that seems to be an overspray, as once swatched they are much more shimmery than glittery; I found that the pigmentation wasn't brilliant, as you can see here. The white and grey shades barely showed up at all on my skin, the black was more of a grey, and the bronze and purple both came up looking a little washed out, which is a shame as they had the potential to be stunning!
Applied damp, the shadows fared a little better; here, I've used the bronze all over the lid, with the grey in the inner corner and the black on the outer corner. I've used the purple along my lower lashline, and the white on my browbone as a highlight, although I'd skip the latter in future as it's a bit too white for this and doesn't look as natural as I'd like a brow highlight to be.
I'm not sure that the term "silky" in the name is particularly accurate; these were not the smoothest shadows I've ever used by any stretch of the imagination! They weren't gritty or unpleasant to use, though. In terms of lasting power I found that applied dry, these creased after five or six hours, but applied with a dampened brush they lasted 12 hours with no creasing or sliding which is pretty good going!
