Maybe I'm asking too much. Maybe it's just a case of not being able to please all of the people, all of the time. Whatever it is, these are four products that have left me feeling a bit underwhelmed:

Clinique Custom-Repair Serum | Another magazine freebie; this sounded so promising - a product that can detect your individual skin concerns and address them!? Yes please! Sadly, it didn't do much for my uneven skin tone, fine lines or dullness - and on top of that, it broke me out. (I suspect that might be due to the silicons which are pretty high up the ingredients list, but who knows!?) I keep coming back to this to give it another try, but I always seem to have the same results. Other reviews note reductions in hyper-pigmentation, pore size and fine lines, so maybe it's just me...

Maybelline Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Foundation | I started off badly here by accidentally buying a shade too dark, so it's not a great match for my skin. That's not the main problem, though. The main problem is that it's called "matte and poreless", and yet it's the complete opposite; it pools in my pores, looking horrible, and isn't even slightly matte - I'd say semi-matte at best, if I was feeling generous, and within an hour or two my face looks like an oil slick. Oh, and it oxidises pretty badly, making my poor shade choice look even worse! Not impressed, Maybelline.

Remember, these are just my personal experiences - everyone is different, so what works for one person won't necessarily work for the next, and just because I don't like these products, doesn't mean they don't work for others! Have you tried any of these products? Have you had any more luck with them than I have? What are your most disappointing beauty products?

Urgh there's nothing worse than spening a fortune and realising its hype!!! Thx for sharing
ReplyDeleteI have this benefit sample and still haven't tried it, but I'm quite pale so I don't think it would suit me x
ReplyDeleteI've actually had the same issue with the Caudalie Divine Oil. I suffer with dry skin, so using oils is something I LOVE, but this one is wayyy too greasy for me. My skin doesn't absorb it well enough, so I'm left feeling icky in the morning. Not nice for an expensive product!

Is it disappointing when a product that you have expectations on, lets you down. I like to visit department store counters for this reason, so I get a sample before buying the full size.
ReplyDeleteI love Dew the Hoole but do mix it with my foundation and I also love Caudalie Divine oil ha x
ReplyDeleteAh I agree I didnt think much of the fit me foundation it was nothing like it was described on the bottle
ReplyDeleteIt sure is disappointing when there are so many good reviews of a particular product and you experience the exact opposite.. Good thing is you didn't spend too much on them :)
ReplyDeleteGood to know your experiences. The thing is not everyone reacts the same to any product. For instance I bought a anti ageing serum that brought me out in spots. I havent recovered from that yet. Even though I reverted to my normal Clinique Gel it now also that worked before in now causes the same reaction...smh!
ReplyDeleteIm surprised at the Caudalie Divine Oil .. but I get what you mean oils can be a bit too heavy sometimes!
