Tropic Skincare Fresh Faced Collection

I was lucky enough to win Tropic Skincare's Fresh Faced Collection from the lovely Rachel Nicole earlier in the year and, like the skincare junkie I am, was thrilled at the opportunity to try a new-to-me skincare brand! The Fresh Faced Collection comprises three masks in beautiful brightly-coloured jars, along with a mask spatula to help you get an even application, all presented in a lovely box which would make this ideal as a gift as well as for a treat to yourself.

Contained within the box are one jar each of Tropic's Clear Skin Blemish-Fighting Mask, Face Lift Brightening Tightening Mask and Deep Hydration Soothing Cooling Mask - so there's pretty much something for every skincare woe you may face!

As always, I gravitated straight towards the Blemish-Fighting Mask, as I love anything that offers to clear out my pores and calm down any blemishes I might have at the time. "A spot-busting mask to control sebum levels and prevent breakouts. • Willow bark and and ginger extracts kill blemish-causing bacteria. • Green clay and spirulina draw out toxins and tighten pores. • Charcoal and goji berry extracts reduce redness and calm skin." The mask is bright green and quite thick in texture, but the spatula makes it really easy to apply an even layer. It dried quite hard, as you'd expect from the clay, but washed off pretty easily with warm water and a flannel, to leave my skin feeling super-smooth and looking noticeably clearer and calmer. I had quite a few blemishes when I used this and it really took the redness out of them - and by the next day, most of them had all but cleared up. Consider me impressed!

The Brightening Tightening Mask, meanwhile, claims to be, "An intensely tightening, age-defying mask to firm and brighten your skin. • Agave nectar and seabuckthorn extract hydrate and nourish. • Turmeric and clay promote a brighter, lighter complexion. • Electric daisy extract works to tighten fine lines." My skin can tend towards dull, so I do love a good brightening product; this mask is a little looser in texture than the Blemish-Fighting Mask, but equally easy to apply using the spatula. This one hardened on the skin and went quite crumbly as it dried, flaking off all over the show every time I moved my face... So maybe a good one to use in the bath! Once again, it washed off pretty easily with warm water and a flannel, leaving my skin looking slightly reddened for a few minutes. That calmed down pretty quickly, though, to leave behind smoother, brighter-looking skin. I don't have much in the way of fine lines just yet so I don't think I can really comment on the tightening abilities.

And finally, the Soothing Cooling Mask; "A creamy gel mask to instantly hydrate and soothe irritated or dry skin. • Specially formulated with antioxidant-rich wild Australian superberries. • Resurrection flower extracts deeply hydrate and restore skin vitality. • With anti-inflammatory allantoin and bisabolol." This is the only one I haven't tried yet as I already have quite a few hydrating masks open, so I'm going to wait until I've finished a couple before I dig into this!

The Fresh Faced Collection is no longer available, but you can find the individual face masks for sale here priced at £16 each. I'd also just like to declare a bit of love for the spatula (£6) - never has applying a clay mask been so mess-free! This little tool makes it so easy to get a smooth, even layer of the mask onto my face, without getting it all over everywhere else as well.
Have you ever tried anything from Tropic Skincare? Which mask would you most like to try?

  1. I love the sound of the soothing skin mask as my skin always tends to get really dry especially around my nose area. Although I am so sensitive to products that I have to be really careful using them :(
